Chapter Sixteen

We woke up midmorning and for the first time Fox wasn’t rock hard against my ass; even Niamh had relaxed. “That was amazing, but I hope we never go through it again,” Fox said sleepily in my ear.

I chuckled, “How do you feel, my love?”

“Fantastic actually,” he shifted so he could see my face, “Did you just call me ‘your love’?”

My face flooded with heat, “Um, ye-yeah,” I dropped my gaze, “Niamh’s been in love with you for a while, and I’ve come to love you as well. I know it’s early in terms of human relationships, but for supernaturals, we have concrete knowledge of who we’re to spend the rest of our lives with. So yeah, I love you.”

He didn’t say anything right away, and the longer he stayed silent, the faster my heart beat. He placed his hands on either side of my face and pulled my gaze back up to him. When I looked into his eyes, I felt his love for me wash over me. His lips latched onto mine and he kissed me like his life depended on it. We pulled apart, both of us panting, “I love you too.”

A wide grin took its place on my lips as I kissed him again, slowly but passionately. “Come on let’s take a shower so we don’t only smell like sex when we go to breakfast,” I said once we finally break the kiss.

“We’re still going to fool around in the shower though right?”

I laughed, “I thought that was a given.”

Once we were done with our shower, we headed to the kitchen. As we got our food, Fox’s voice rang in my head with a single word, “Milk.” I looked at him quizzically before grabbing the milk from the fridge, “Thanks. How’d you know I needed that?”

My brow furrowed even further, “You mind linked me.”

He gave me a confused look, “No I didn’t. I just had the thought of wanting the milk.”

“Try it again. This time imagine yourself talking to me, telling me whatever it is you want to link me.”

“Breaker, breaker. Amaya, do you read me? Over,” his voice rang in my head, causing me to laugh.

“I read you loud and clear, my king. Do you read me? Over,” I linked back with a look of amusement still on my face.

He grinned widely, “It worked! It’s weird to have someone else knocking around in my head,” he linked me.

“You’ll get used to it, and so long as we leave the doors open, we’ll be able to read each other’s minds.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. We can work on it later, so you can build walls around the things you don’t want to share.”

“Sounds like a plan,” he linked as he placed a chaste kiss on my lips.

Ian and a few of the guys from the other teams whooped and hollered when Fox and I walked into the dining room, causing me to roll my eyes. “Oh come on Amaya, you have to admit, it’s about time you two crazy kids mated,” Ian shouted.

I looked over at Leandra, who was sitting next to him, “I’m so sorry our goddess paired you with such a dumbass.”

Leandra giggled, “He makes life a lot more interesting.”

“Yeah Amaya, I’m not a dumbass. I’m quirky,” Ian said, sticking his tongue out as if that is a valid argument.

“Yeah sure,” I responded with an eye roll, “How are you and Aurelia settling in?”

Leandra bobbed her head, “Very well. Thank you.”

“Did Daniel ever make a decision on who you’ll face in the glacadh?” I asked her.

She nodded, “Jace is going to train Finley, and once we’re both ready, I’ll fight her.”

I smiled, “I’m glad you’ll be fighting Finley. It feels right. Are you nervous?”

She nodded her head, “Finley is very tough, and I’m so much smaller than her.”

“I can help with training if you want. It’s only fair because I’ll probably offer to train Fin too. I’ll talk to Josie too. It would be helpful for you to learn from someone who is smaller than the rest of us.”

“Thank you. I really appreciate it,” Leandra said with a small smile.

“Do you doubt my ability to train my mate?” Ian asked incredulously.

I rolled my eyes, “I’m just being nice.”

Ian’s eyes narrowed, “You’re not nice though.”

Fox barked out a laugh, causing me to turn to him with narrowed eyes. He put his hands up in surrender, “I’m nice. To people I like,” I turned back to Ian, “Which would explain why I’m not nice to you, but I like Leandra so I’m willing to help.”

Ian babbled in disbelief, causing everyone to laugh. “I can’t believe you. You barely even know her. She could be a horrible person.”

I barely managed to stifle my laugh, which got harder to do when I saw his eyes flash from human to dragon and back again, indicating he was fighting with Corvin. “Would you guys like my help or not, so you can stop fighting with Corvin and we can get to work?”

Ian grumbled, “I guess.”

“Great! When do you want to get started, Leandra?”

“After lunch?” She asked in an unsure voice.

“After lunch should be fine,” I responded with a smile.

The rest of breakfast passed with light conversation. Once Fox and I were done, I dragged him into the gym, “Why do I need to train? The glacadh is done.”

“Right, but I still think you should keep training. Just because you barely beat Daniel doesn’t mean you should stop training.”

He scoffed, “Barely beat Daniel?” I raised an eyebrow, causing him to sigh, “All right. What are we working on today?”

I smiled before explaining what we would be running through. We sparred for a couple of hours until finally he collapsed on the mats panting. “Already?”

He looked at me as if I had lost my mind, “Seriously?”

I grinned at him widely, but didn’t get the chance to respond as Ian and Leandra walked into the gym. “You’ve only been mated for a week and you’ve already killed him?” Ian asked.

“Not yet. That’s usually week two,” I responded with a smirk, causing Ian to laugh.

“Ha, ha. You guys are hilarious,” Fox said, sitting up from where he was laying.

Ian beamed, “Thanks!”

“Fucking smartass,” Fox stood, kissing me, “I’m going to grab some clothes from my apartment, we can stay at yours tonight. I have to report tomorrow.”

I smiled, “Okay. I’ll see you later.” I kissed him hard, “Love you.”

He grinned at me, “Love you too.”
